The Girls Soccer team suffered its third loss of the season in the Southern Shootout by falling to soccer power-house Oak Mountain from the Birmingham area. Although missing three starters and playing with some banged up players, the lions never gave up. After some emotional let downs the night before, the lions came out today and played extremely hard.
The Lions were forced to play every game of the Southern Shootout Tournament without three of their starters and it contributed to making a tough outing. This group of seniors has worked very hard to improve the standing of the lions girls soccer team over the years by advancing each season to a higher bracket in the tournament than the year before. This year they were in the showcase bracket, but struggled with competition because they were missing starters Belle Rea, Macee Morin, and Anna Langston. All of these girls have major abilities and would have been a huge boost for the lions. There was solid play by several players from the lady lions, including mids Tereza Figueroa, & Jordana Stugart. The back line had to fight off attacks by the opposition all weekend, and Sierra Vickrey & Ariana Crepeau worked hard anchored by Emily Hammac at the Center Defender spot. Judy Manzano was the utility player moving to various positions to try to plug some holes left by the absences.
