A defensive match had Foley High School walk out of the Southern Coast Cup with a 0-0 draw against Bartlett High School.
Juan Cerro made only two saves in a match that was dominated in the middle of the field. Ramiro Figueroa and Jason Lopez were able to control possession for a good portion of the first half before Bartlett settled in and began testing the backline.
Edlen Meza, Ever Diaz, Ryan McDuffie, and Jorge Mercado worked dynamically to help keep Bartlett from ever really threatening Cero, who was also made several big stops off the line to keep the ball out of Foley’s defensive third.
With less than a minute remaining, Foley’s Edwin Aparico was able to set Rudy Morales up for perhaps the Lions’ best opportunity of the night, but Morales’ shot was saved by the Bartlett keeper.
Foley finished the tournament in third place of the Bay La Launch Division with a 1-1-1 record.
