Lions News · Quarles Named Boys Soccer Coach

Mr. Brian Quarles has been named the head coach of Foley High School’s Boys Soccer Team. Quarles, who will be teaching health and physical education classes at the school, has a stellar coaching record and has received countless accolades for his work leading soccer teams in competition.

As the head coach of the Arab High School program, Quarles led his team to 140 wins, a 5A Final Four Appearance, and multiple area championships. Under his leadership, the Decatur Raiders were Region 8 champions, made two consecutive appearances at the State playoffs, and Quarles was named the head coach for the North Team in the AHSAA All-Star Soccer Game.

“I am extremely excited to join Foley High School for multiple reasons,” said Quarles. “Being part of a school with such a rich tradition of academics and athletics with strong community support is an amazing feeling, not only as a teacher and coach but as a parent of 3 children who are all involved in the Foley feeder pattern.”

Coach Quarles says that his expectations for his team are quite high on and off the field. “Academically I expect all of my players to work hard in the classroom and be teachable with the utmost respect for their teachers and classmates. As a coach, I demand excellence from our young men daily as we strive for perfection in all aspects of the game, not just the fundamentals. These young men will positively work towards representing their families, school and community on and off the field while developing the necessary skills to become successful husbands, fathers, leaders and businessmen as they enter adulthood.”

“We are elated to have the opportunity for our student-athletes to work with Coach Quarles,” said Moore. “He has a strong work ethic and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be a great influence for our students in and out of the classroom. Soccer is becoming an increasingly important sport in our community and the I believe that Coach Quarles has the intensity and drive to help us grow our program into one of the best in the State. His philosophy of coaching very much aligns with our school’s mission to be committed to excellence in all that we do.”
